Experiences in Using Nikon D100 Testing NEF Files for Web Site By Somkiet Phaloprakarn |
| It is rather unnecessary
to shoot pictures using NEF file format for web site as JPEG format is already very good. However, this is an experiment to show that if you set the EV compensation wrongly e.g. EV -0.3 as shown in Picture 3377 the picture came out quite dark as compared to EV +1.0 of Picture 3381 the picture is too bright. |
![]() Fig.1 Pictures shot with CPL and EV settings from -0.3, 0.0, +0.3, +0.7 and +1.0. By using Nikon View 5 software with NEF Raw file, it is possible to adjust the EV to get better result. Also other adjustments can be made together with PhotoShop 7 and we can get good quality pictures as shown in Fig.2 and 3. Summary : If you have already got an experience in setting EV compensation it is very easy to take pictures using JPEG format. For certain case, for example, taking picture of landscape or views with polarizing filter and with the angle that the sky may be partly blue and partly pale white, it may be worthwhile to try the NEF format so that more adjustments can be made later on. |
