Comments :
1. For writing image files it is more
appropriate to use Nero Burning Rom
such that folders can be designated
for images. The writing speed can be
as high as 48X.

2. Copying music or preparation of
song album can be done by using
Nero Burning Rom. The writing speed
can be as high as 48X. However,
experiment will be made to compare
the sound quality when 4X and 8X
speeds are used.***

3. For copying VCD it is recommended
that the
Nero Express be used. From
our tests the writing speed up to 48X
can be done. As shown here the time
required for creating image for writing
is the same because it is the read time
by CD-ROM in the PC. The writing time
depends on the preset writing speed.
Test result with 40X writing speed took
8.00 minutes as compared to 23 minutes 29 seconds when 4X speed was used.

*** Note for Copying Music CD
To get good result the good quality
CD-R, especially CD-R marked for
Phono or Audio, should be used.
The writing speed 4X will give better
sound quality than writing at higher
speed.  From our tests we used
Mitsubishi CD-R Audio Phono-R
which costs 30 Baht/CD-R or
(US.Cents 70). The sound quality
is excellent and even better than
the original. As a comparison try :

At the time of writing we can not get
TDK CD-R Audio Pro yet.

Burning images/data/digital pictures on CD-R can be easily done
at 2X, 4X, and 8X speed using older CD-R/RW drive. For burning
music CD and VCD the 2X or 4X speed can be successful. But
to be sure the other applications on PC must be stopped. The
burning process will take at least 30 minutes for writing one VCD.

With the older CD-R/RW drive we encountered buffer underrun
problems in burning music CD and VCD. Sometimes the burning
process advanced to 97% completion and the error occurred.

With the new TDK Cyclone CD-R/RW Writer, 48X/16X/48X speeds
with Buffer Under Run Protection, writing data, music and VCD
can be done at a much faster speed.

2. Copying Music CD
The Nero Burning Software was used and the music data was analyzed
in the PC hard disk before burning took place. Results are :

3. Copying VCD
The Nero Express, copy entire disc function  was used. For copying one
VCD (approx.66.5 minutes running time) with the writing speed of 4X and
with 40X the results are compared as follows :

4. Copying VCD/Karaoke Using Different Quality CD-R
Writing the
low cost CD-R at 40X speed was carried out successfully
but when the CD-R was played there were some problems with pictures
and sound running not smoothly. However, there is no problems if
the burning speed is 16X.
(Updated 14/6/2003)

Summary :

1. With the Buffer Under Run Protection it is possible to burn CD-R
at high speed, e.g. 32X, 40X, 48X when the TDK Cyclone External
CD-R/RW is connected via USB 2.0 port/hub. Our tests show that
substantial time saving is obtained and the writing process is very
smooth.
2. If low cost CD-R is used the writing speed should be reduced
to not more than 16X.

Experiment with various CD-R is recommended.
