Lamphun or formerly called Hariphunchai was founded in 637 A.D.
and the first ruler was Queen Chamma Thewi. This province is rich
in natural resources and historic sites. Lamphun has several ancient
temples and ruins that represent scene of the past. For tourists,
there are local product shops, cloth markets, hand-made and
typical original designs items, batik fabrics, silk, native clothes,
wood carving, woven hats, and many souvenirs. Lamphun is noted
for its beautiful women and tasty logans.
Lamphun Province
Travelling from Chiangmai to Lamphun is only about
30-40 minutes by car. Visit to Wat Phrathat
Hariphunchai is recommended for the first stop.
