The
Siam Society was established in 1904 by Thai and foreign residents of Bangkok for the purpose of investigating and encouraging the arts and sciences of Thailand and examining the ways in which they relate to those of neighboring countries. It was founded under Royal Patronage with Crown Prince Vajiravudh (later King Rama VI, 1920 - 1925), who both encouraged and supported the society, as the First Patron. The Kamthieng House (เรือนคำเที่ยง - เรือนล้านนาทรงกาแล) This is an old teak house built in mid-nineteenth century in Chiangmai, and it was offered to the Society. Then it was dismantled and relocated on the grounds of the Siam Society in 1964. For further information please visit the Siam Society web site : www.siam-society.org .
