Preparing New DVD-R from Old VCD / DVD
..
Figure 11
PURPOSE
To prepare new DVD-R which collects important and
interesting scenes from several old VCDs or DVDs for keeping as a
collection or as a gift to friends. For example, to collect favorite songs
and karaoke songs into your own album.
SYSTEM SETUP
Since you can not dub programs/scenes from ordinary VCD / DVD to
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) of Panasonic DMR-E100H, therefore there is a
need to have an extra DVD player as shown in Figure 11. What I used
is Philips DVD player Model ...... as a source. The scene being played
is monitored by a TV and with the remote control No.1 I can play, advance
and select the scenes for recording.
The Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-E100H has
80 MB HDD. Before
you start recording the scenes it is recommended that you use SETUP
to set the DMR-E100H to accept the High Speed Dubbing to DVD-R so
that later on you can dub the programs from HDD to DVD-R at high speed.
RECORDING TO HDD
Press / select the HDD, and select the input mode e.g. AV2. Playback
the DVD player for the program / scene you want and Press Record on
DMR-E100H or its remote control. For the portion of the original program /
scenes that you do not want that to be recorded just press "Pause" on
the remote control of DMR-E100H, and then press "Pause" again to
continue with recording. If you do not want to start with the new title just
use "Pause" but not "Stop".
DUBBING FROM HDD TO DVD-R
Put a DVD-R disc on the tray and close it. Wait until the green flashing
light stop then press at HDD button. Select Set Up -> Dubbing. Select
Source -> HDD, Destination -> DVD. Select Recording Mode -> High
Speed Recording. Then select as many scenes to provide about 120
minutes recording time. Then start dubbing. After the dubbing is finished
the DVD-R must be finalized so that it can be used with other DVD players
or PCs. To finalize the disc press DVD button first then select "Set Up".
Then select Disc Information, and select "Finalize", and follow the
instruction. The finalizing process takes 4 - 5 minutes. |
EXPERIMENTAL
RESULTS
1. The finished DVD-R has professional
Title Menu on TV screen that we can
select which chapter to play or to start
playing from the beginning. The operation
is very smooth and it is seemless.
2. Good quality DVD-R is recommended
for dubbing at high speed.
3. The DVD-R can be played on other
DVD player and on PC as well.
4. The "Dubbing List" is still kept in
the DMR-E100H for further dubbings
until you delete the scenes. But the
scenes recorded on the HDD are
still there.PRECISE
RECORDING
Another precise recording of the scenes
is to note down the numbers on the digital
counter on the DVD player while the program
is being played the first time. Then start
dubbing and pause dubbing according to the counter numbers. |
