Khum Chao Ratchabutr or the mansion of the old time Nan
Feudal Lord, or governor is located in the city, opposite to
Wat Chang Kham and close to the Nan National Museum.

The mansion is made of wood, the first one was constructed
in 1903 by the last Feudal Lord of Nan, Chao Maha Bhrama
Surathada, and the present one was built to replace the first
one in 1942. In the compound there are few wooden buildings
with large lawn and many big old trees.

Chao Somprathana Na Nan, owner of the house, welcome our
team and showed many impressive collections in the building.
The main visitor room is on the ground floor with old table and
chairs, collection of old decorating items.

The upper floor is more interesting because many valuable
items (many of them more than 100 years old) are collected.
Elephant tusks, rifles, swords, chairs, medals, clothing,
ceramics, pictures, etc. are well kept. The very valuable
fabrics are separately kept in another room. These are
Nan's ancient famous Lai Nam Lai hand-woven silk fabrics
in which Chao Somprathana kindly allowed us to take many
pictures.
