Initial Comments :
Since I have owned this camera during the
rainy season and for a short time, therefore,
some sample images can be presented now.
But eventually more pictures will be added.
The initial comments are :

1. The picture quality is excellent and it is also
easy to use. The camera is small and robust
but relatively heavy thus the supplied strap
should be attached to prevent camera slipping
and falling down.

2. The macro mode is very impressive. Other
modes are not tested much as of today.

3. Wide angle mode (35 mm), in my opinion,
is just sufficient for general picture takings but
may not be sufficient for group picture, wedding,
temples, bridges, buildings shots, etc. The wide
angle pictures of G9 at 35 mm. is compared with
Sony H9 and other older Sony cameras as
shown in the next page. Click here.

4. Video capturing with standard mode (640x480)
at 30 fps is quite good. Two video clips were made
for presentation of the zooming and panning effects.

5. Canon G9 seems to be a very good small point
and shoot camera as a backup to my Nikon D200.
Or, G9 can be taken along all the time wherever
I go because it is very handy and the picture
quality is very good.

Canon PowerShot G9 was announced on August 20, 2007
and available in the market from September 2007 onwards.
A lot of people posted comments and photos in dpreview's
Canon Talk Discussion Forum. The Canon G9 is available
in Bangkok from the end of September from a camera shop
at the price of 17,900 Baht (about US.$ 520).
